Free trolleys in Bucks County boroughs draw 200
An estimated 200 people boarded free trolleys on Saturday that stopped in New Hope, Yardley, Morrisville and Bristol boroughs as part of Landmark Towns of Bucks County’s Passport to Main Street event.
The event, which was first held on June 19 and will be held again on Nov. 18, is aimed at luring more visitors and shoppers to the historic, riverfront boroughs in Bucks County.
Two free trolleys ran continually from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., at times with standing room only, making stops at the Bristol Borough Wharf at the end of Mill Street, the Morrisville Shopping Center on Trenton Avenue, Buttonwood Park in Yardley and the corner of Bridge and Stockton streets in New Hope one hour payday loan.
The boroughs have largely struggled under the economic downturn, with the exception of New Hope which has had some 30 businesses arrive, expand or be in the process of expanding — most in the past year.
The four-year-old Landmark Towns of Bucks County program, administered by the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Corridor, is aimed at revitalizing the four boroughs by marketing their assets as a whole.
