Bridgeton

Feld Chevrolet in Bridgeton has closed its doors and is facing legal action from GMAC LLC, the financing company allied to General Motors Corp.

The dealership, located at 11200 St. Charles Rock Road, laid off 20 mechanics last month, a representative of the union for those employees — the International Association of Machinists District 9 — told the Post-Dispatch on Aug. 15. Now, the location has been closed altogether. Operations at the body shop at the dealership, which is independently owned, remains open.

The dealership’s lot sits empty and padlocked. Calls made to the sales, parts and service phone numbers listed on the dealership’s website were not answered.

According to the Missouri courts website, GMAC filed two lawsuits in St payday loan. Louis County circuit court — one on Monday and another on Wednesday — against the dealership.

And the Better Business Bureau of eastern Missouri and southern Illinois said on its website that the dealership’s membership was suspended last Friday because "the company appears to be out of business."
